Fast forward to the end of the year. Everyone’s in a yearbook signing frenzy. He comes up to me and wants us to sign yearbooks. As I’m signing his, he comes right out and says, “You know E, I like you. A lot. I’d like if we could go out sometime.” And asks if he could have my phone number. I tell him if he writes his in my yearbook I’ll call him sometime. He writes. I never call. Ever. I was 15 at the time and he was probably 18 or 19.
A year or two later, I found out he’s one of those “hits on anything with legs” type of guys. He had at one point dated my friend J, but they broke up because he was to anime obsessive for her. Sometime later, I find out he’d started courting my friend M. They ended up going out on a single date. My friend said yes out of pity/curiosity. She told me the whole time all he wanted to talk about was anime and when she didn’t know something, he acted very superior and rude to her. My friend M is very intelligent, and if there’s one thing she can’t stand, it’s condescension. Apparently, she was the first girl he’d ever asked out who didn’t say no. He started sending her creepy mopey love messages and showed up uninvited to her 4th of July barbeque. He plunked himself down on a lawn chair and refused to leave despite everyone in her family telling him to skedaddle. I forget how M eventually shook him, but I believe he’s long since moved out of our town, though I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he’s still the creep we all knew.
tl;dr: anime club is run by creepy weebs, one of them courts me and all my friends in a creepy manner.
Remember the anon who submitted the story about the weeb who attacked her for unfolding her toilet paper? Well, I’m her sister. I’d like to share a few more stories about the same weeb. Let’s flash back about 2 years.
This isn’t as horrific as some of the stories here but it’s still rather weird.
As I’m interested in cultures of other countries, I often use some of my free time to do my own research on different racial groups. One day I went to an anime convention with some friends. It was a usual convention there were some good cosplay’s and some…not so good cosplay’s. There was also a Dealer’s room where people would people could purchase Manga’s or Plush dolls etc. and this is where I came across…her.

In my country there aren’t many cons, but we do have a few, and the main one draw’s 3000 visitors a year. Now I’ve gone for the last three and everything’s been great! But last year a had a very awkward experience.
First two days were great! Me and my friends had matching cosplays, I met up with some other mates who live far away from me, regular con stuff! But my friends from afar were cosplaying hetalia, which ment they met some weirdos at the con, and in the way that usually happens, these weirdos walked around with them. Now I don’t believe all hetalia fans are crazy, I used to like the show myself and even cosplayed it, but some can be a little over the top.
Now one of these girls, she was cosplaying Northern Italy. She didn’t exactly fit the body type and was not wearing a wig, but the costume was pretty ok. Now she stuck to our friends, so I got to meet her. We all chatted a bit and she seemed pretty normal! Woah was I wrong.
I was going to cosplay Lupin from Harry Potter the last day, and before the con my friends had told me that one of their friends thought that was awesome and was planning on cosplaying Tonks for the con. Great! I though, cool! And talking to this Italy girl I learnt that this was her! Ok, cool! Maybe we could get some cool pictures and stuff when we wear the costumes for the last day I thought. But then she started talking about Tonks and Lupin, and how they were favourite pair ever and how she had written a mega long fanfic about their children or something like that. I was a bit confused and put off but hey whatever, some people really like their ships!
So the next day, I wore my costume, people recognized me, it was awesome! I was real curious to see what her costume looked like, wondering if it would be any good.
It was not.
Now I know Tonks can change her appearance, but I doubt she would’ve looked like this. Her wig was pink, but not resembling the hair of Tonks in any way. It was wagely star shaped and it had a pony tail, it all looked very BeyBlade. Her outfit was, gods I don’t even remember half of it, saggy pants, some kind of shirt wow I don’t know. Very closet. It was all so bad that I didn’t really want to be associated with her.
But still we were somehow left alone, and I walked around the con desperatly looking for my friends with her after me talking about her fanfic with me going mhmmm interesting.
At one point we stood by a staircase, and she seemed nervous, like she really wanted to say something. I dreaded.
Then like, I don’t remember her exact words, but it was about a song Tonks sang to Lupin in her fanfic, or one that she felt was for them or something, and she looked incredibly nervous.
And then she looked me in the eye and sang this song for me, like a serenade. All in the open, we were amongst people. It was so incredibly awkward, the song was pretty damn long! I had no idea where to look, I couldn’t just brake eyecontact!
When it was over, shit I have no idea what I said, something awkward I bet. Luckily I managed to avoid her for the rest of her con, and escape giving her my email.
About 8 months ago, I finally grew out of a year-long weeb phase. It was only then that I realized my “NiiNii” hadn’t.
